Homemade simple and chocolate doughnut recipe is given below.
1, 1/4 teaspoon yeast,
3 tablespoon sugar,
3/4 teaspoon salt,
2 tablespoon oil,
2 cup all purpose flour,
3 to 4 drops vanilla essence.
Add all the dry ingredients in a dough maker, make sure that the salt and yeast are not adjacent to each other but on the opposite sides. Then add the egg and milk, the milk should be like warm-as boiling milk will kill the yeast and the cold milk won’t activate the yeast so like warm milk. Then to this mixture add vanilla essence drops and oil. Mix it well in the dough maker. After a good dough is formed cover it with some wet towel. About 15 to 20 minutes later again turn on th dough maker machine mix it well. Then cover it again and leave it overnight. Now some people may ask if this overnight part is necessary, so YES it is of-course very necessary as it allows the yeast action.
Take your dough after leaving it overnight or giving it some good 12 hours and start making doughnuts. For donuts making doughnut cutter is required but if you don’t have it, it shouldn’t stop you from making donuts just take a glass and a bottle lid for making doughnut holes. Now we have two ways either make small balls press them and cut out the holes or just flatten the dough (about 1 to 1 and a half inch thick) and cut out with glass and then with the lids, either one is good. After doing this cover it with the wet towel again let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes. In the mean while put some oil in a frying pan. When the oil is medium low start frying the donuts. Make sure that the frying should be shallow and do not overcrowd the frying pan. Fry until golden brown and take out.
For coating you can simply dip it in the frosting sugar. And there you go ready to serve.
For glaze donuts, add 2 table spoons of milk to 6 to 7 table spoons of frosting sugar mix it well, an opaque solutions is obtained. Then dip the donuts in the glaze right after taking them out of the frying pan.
Another way is just dip the doughnut in sugar syrup and coat with coconut powder.
And there you go, a good serve of doughnuts with 3 different coatings. 🙂
